Devotional Psalm 20:1-2,7

"May the Lord Answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. May he send you help form the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion...Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God." Psalm 20:1-2,7.

It's important to know that God is always there for us. We may not notice it or feel that it is true. And it's not usually obvious either. We don't get to hear God's voice or have angels show up to us like in the bible. But know that he is there for us. God has always been known as a protector and this is true even now.

God is the one to give us the strength we need to accomplish our goals and to overcome our obstacles. When we feel weak, God has the power to strengthen our resolve and stand up even if we don't feel like it. We may have faced times where we wished to give up, but it was God who either worked through us, or someone we know, to give us the strength to go on.

God is also a protector. It may not seem like it with all that has been going on around the world and around us. We may have even faced a dangerous situation before. But God has so much love for us that he protects us from things we don't even realize. And most importantly, he protects our spirit. We are the people we are now because of him. His Word serves as protection from sin. The word cleanses us and deters us from any temptation. One of the most famous examples of this is the temptation that Jesus faced when he was fasting in the desert. The devil tried to tempt him to call on God and to disobey God. But Jesus knew the Word of God, and thus knew not to fall into temptation.

What we should all keep in mind is that God supports us when we ask him. We aren't always strong enough to deal with the situations we face. Material things do not measure to the things that God can do. That's why we should always ask God to help us whenever we are having trouble. We should have trust in God that he can get us through even the most difficult of situations. And the situation that we go through may not be resolved in the way we expect, but the way God gets us through that situation may surprise you.
